Playgroup Tasmania acknowledges that we live, work and play on Aboriginal land, land of the palawa people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, to elders past and present and to all those who continue caring for country, sharing stories and upholding rights.

Children's Week 2024 Grants

Applications for grants now open

Children’s Week 2024 runs from Saturday, 19 to Sunday, 27 October with the theme of

"Children have the right to a clean and safe environment."
(from The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 24)

Children’s Week aims to be inclusive of and accessible to Tasmanians from all communities, and to be celebrated in all regions of Tasmania.

$1,000 grants available

Ten (10) grants of $1,000 each are available to organisations to support Children’s Week 2024 events, activities, or projects.

Please note that in 2024 consideration will only be given to applications for the full amount of $1000 in funding. This is a change from the 2023 grant program. In addition, grants will be allocated across the regions as follows*:

  • Three (3) grants of $1000 each to applicants in Tasmania's southern region
  • Two (2) grants of $1000 each to applicants in Tasmania's northern region
  • Five (5) grants of $1000 each to applicants in Tasmania's west and north west regions

(*Please note that if there are not enough eligible applications in a region, grants will be allocated to other regions.)

Organisations are encouraged to work in partnership with other groups to plan their Children’s Week event, activity or project. Organisations may submit more than one application but will need to rank these in order of priority.

Applications for grants close at 2pm (AEST) Monday, 3 June 2024.

"We've truly loved being involved in our community playgroup. It's helped with social anxiety and making new friends."
