Playgroup Tasmania acknowledges that we live, work and play on Aboriginal land, land of the palawa people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, to elders past and present and to all those who continue caring for country, sharing stories and upholding rights.

Community playgroups

Playgroup Launceston Dec 2022 14

Playgroup Tasmania supports playgroups to be warm, welcoming and safe places for all children and families through the PlayTogether program.

At PlayTogether playgroups the Volunteer Playgroup Leaders have had extra training and support to increase their skills and knowledge about disability and inclusion in a playgroup setting.

Some benefits of PlayTogether playgroups

  • They are welcoming and friendly to everyone, especially to new families.
  • Playgroup leaders and families encourage all children to be understanding of differences.
  • It is understood that all children are learning skills at different times, including social and emotional skills.
  • Playgroup leaders understand that some children may find playgroup challenging and need some extra help.

"The volunteer who runs our Baby Village is fantastic – she’s so welcoming and designs fantastic learning experiences for babies and families."
