Playgroup Tasmania acknowledges that we live, work and play on Aboriginal land, land of the palawa people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, to elders past and present and to all those who continue caring for country, sharing stories and upholding rights.
From Monday 2 until Sunday 8 September, playgroups and Baby Villages across Tasmania will join in the first ever nationwide census to create a snapshot of the number of parents, caregivers and children who attend the nation’s thousands of playgroup sessions every week.
What is the census for?
This point-in-time census will help paint a national picture of just how popular playgroups are to help make sure they're getting the right amount of funding and support.
How do I take part?
What if I don't have a device with me?
No problem. Playgroup leaders and Playgroup Tasmania staff members will be on hand with a device if you need one.
What if I'm busy caring for my children?
You don't have to complete the survey the moment you arrive at the session. Families will receive stickers when they complete the census to help us know who has and hasn't yet filled it in.
Playgroup leaders and Playgroup Tasmania staff will give you support to fill the census out during the session at a time that works for you and your family.
Do I have to share personal details?
No. The survey is totally anonymous and does not ask for any personal information.
What if my usual playgroup or Baby Village doesn't meet between 2-8 September?
You can still take part even if your group doesn't meet during census week. Your playgroup or Baby Village leader will help you get involved on the day you do meet that is closest to the week of 2-8 September.
If you still have questions, please speak with your playgroup or Baby Village leader or your usual Playgroup Tasmania staff contact.
This year saw the culmination of many aspects of Playgroup Tasmania’s strategic projects including expansion of our high impact playgroup development focus.
We need volunteers to help establish Baby Village playgroups around our state.
This great new way to play focuses on babies and/or children who aren't yet moving around independently.
Playgroup leaders can now access easy-to-use resources and training online at the Playgroup Tasmania Resource Hub.
