Playgroup Tasmania is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children. Everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe from harm and creating child safe and child friendly communities.
Playgroup Tasmania acknowledges that we live, work and play on Aboriginal land, land of the palawa people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, to elders past and present and to all those who continue caring for country, sharing stories and upholding rights.
Join us in Civic Square for a special Children’s Week celebration of Sky Country by Aunty Patsy Cameron and Lisa Kennedy.
Families are invited to experience this much-loved Tasmanian story in a whole new way through the Sky Country StoryWalk - a creative outdoor installation that brings the pages of the book into the public space. Large-scale illustrated story panels will guide families through Civic Square, inviting children to walk, look closely, listen, talk and connect with the story as they explore.
The morning will begin with a special live reading of Sky Country with Jo Cameron, followed by an opportunity to explore the StoryWalk at your own pace.
After the story, children and families can enjoy hands-on activities inspired by Sky Country, with opportunities for creativity, play and discovery.
Come along for a morning of storytelling, culture, art and connection as we celebrate the joy of reading and children’s right to learn about and celebrate culture.
